Nod Tip: Getting Recommendations Faster by Adding a Goal Yourself

February 15, 2018

As a user, there are a couple of ways that you can get a sleep goal in Nod. The most common route is to track for a few days, and then Nod should give you a goal that it makes sense, based on your baby's sleep and feeding data and bedtime / nap routines. If this doesn't happen, or if you know exactly what you'd like to change, you can go ahead an add a goal manually, and we'll help explain how to do that here.

Before we go further, please know that all of our goals are recommended for babies older than 3-4 months. This is because babies' can't develop a nighttime / daytime sleep cycle (i.e. Circadian rhythms) until after 3-4 months, so there isn't much that you can do to extend their sleep through their night or sleep periods before that. Until then, most of what a parent can do is about building good routines and habits. If you have questions about this, definitely let us know - it's some pretty cool biological development!

But, if your baby IS old enough, and you want to add a goal, here's how you do it.

  • On Nod’s home screen, swipe left until you see the “Nod is working on a new recommendation” box. In the upper right-hand corner, you will see the words “View goals”. Tap on this.

  • A list of goals and their associated target ages will then pop up. Tap on each heading to read more information about each, and to add a goal to work through.

  • Please note, you are only able to work through one goal at a time.

On the other hand, if you find yourself in a goal and it's not right (maybe you were just trying out the goal add process!), and you'd like to remove it, you can do that too.

  • On Nod’s home screen, swipe left until you see the “Nod is working on a new recommendation” box. In the upper right-hand corner, you will see the words “View goals”. Tap on this.

  • Swipe down until you see the goal you are currently working on. Tap on its heading and hit “Remove Goal”.

Please note: we'll be adding more goals to this list in the near future. If there is something specific you'd like to change about your baby's sleep, and you don't see it on the list, please email support@nodtosleep.com.
