Parenting and teaching new habits to your baby can be a tough gig at the best of times, let alone when you are sleep deprived yourself and not exactly thinking straight all the time.. This article aims to explain more about Nod’s system, so you can get the most out of it.
At a high level, Nod works by looking at your baby’s sleep and feeding habits and by using that information to create personalized, day-by-day plans to help them get more sleep. We’re a team of engineers and parents working in partnership with leading pediatric sleep training experts, and our goal is to provide parents with clear, straightforward sleep training programs based on clinically proven recommendations, all customized for you and your family.
Nod’s system begins as soon as you register, at which point we’ll ask you a range of questions about your baby to build an understanding of your current situation, challenges and needs. We then rely on you to track as much of your baby’s sleep and feeding activity so we can see how his or her sleep is evolving over time. Note: you can track in real-time or retroactively, whichever works for you.
Once Nod has enough information and your baby is old enough for sleep training (around the 3-4 month mark), we’ll suggest a goal for you to work on. Goals range from teaching your baby to fall asleep independently, reducing their night time feedings, swaddle weaning, and everything in between (including goals for toddlers). You can also self-select a goal at any time if there is something you know you want to change about your baby’s sleep, and we add new goals weekly, so the list will evolve over time.
Every baby is unique, so the duration of a sleep program will vary, generally lasting between 7 and 28 days. Throughout a program, we’ll provide you with daily recommendations and ask you questions so we can continue to build an understanding of your baby’s (changing) sleep, offering encouragement and support to help you through those tough times - we’re in this with you for the long haul!
Nod was also built and designed with a parent-first approach. Make the most of our additional features like Insights, which are graphs to help you to identify trends and patterns in your baby’s activity. You can also ask questions or provide feedback on the coaching cards you’ve received, and there are hundreds of articles to teach you everything you could think of about baby sleep.
